When was your company founded?
DeRisk IT (later known as DeRisk QA) was founded in 1998.
Why should our company use DeRisk QA for software testing?
DeRisk QA is able to provide you onshore, offsite software testing, whether you need manual testing or automated testing. We guarantee quality at a lower cost than in-house testers, and with rates competitive with offshore companies. View a more detailed overview by reading
The DeRisk QA Advantage.
Why should your services be used as opposed to offshore companies?
DeRisk QA provides you the competitive rate of offshore companies, without the disadvantages often found in offshore companies (language barriers, cultural differences, poor infrastructure, high turnover rate, increased rework, and security concerns). Our software testers are ISTQB-certified, trained in HIPAA compliance, and are experienced in numerous verticals.
Do you use offshore workers at all?
No, our facility is onshore in the United States where we employ rural American citizens.
What is your affiliation with DeRisk IT Solutions Ltd.?
DeRisk QA is not affiliated in a business or personal means with DeRisk IT Solutions Ltd. See
this article for more details.
Do you develop software?
DeRisk QA is dedicated strictly to software testing and the Quality Assurance side of the software development life cycle. We feel that testing and development should be performed by independent groups in order for there to be objectivity and no conflict of interest. We cannot reasonably expect that software testers are going to find a huge amount of defects produced by the same company, thus making the development team's work appear poor. The opposite holds true as well; when code appears to be near-perfect, the testing team is poorly reflected.
Do you have any experience with testing software in our specific industry?
DeRisk QA has experience in the healthcare, banking, financial, insurance, retail, and e-commerce industries, among others. View our
client list to gain more insight about the industries we have tested over the years.
Do your software testers have any certifications?
Yes. DeRisk QA takes pride from the fact that each of our testers must become certified in at least the Foundation Level of the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB). In addition, all of our testers must take a course to become certified in HIPAA Compliance for Business Associates to help them understand the importance of protected health information. We feel that certification gives a client confidence that a software tester has the training, skills, and expertise to do the job correctly.
Do you perform automated testing?
Yes, we perform automated testing in addition to manual testing. Our software testers are experienced in the automated tools UFT, Silk Test, TestComplete, Visual Studio, and Testing Anywhere, among others.
Will your team travel to our location for training?
Our software testing team is more than willing to travel to your onsite location to meet with your team, see your environment, and undergo any training needed in your software. Keep in mind, however, that travel and room expenses will be added to the cost of each billable software tester. Training and functional documents that can be viewed by our offsite team will be helpful in learning your company's software.
How does your team test our software offsite?
Our software testing team is able to connect to your company's network through VPN and test your software via remote desktop.
Do you immediately start writing test cases upon beginning work for a new client?
No, our software testers first look over the test cases you already have in place to gain an understanding of your writing process and software to be tested, and then start executing these test cases. After gaining experience in your methods, our software testers can then begin to write test cases according to functional requirements.
Can your software testing processes be used in a company using Agile methodology?
Yes. All of our software testers have worked in Agile shops and are experienced with using this methodology. DeRisk QA has even been in situations where a traditional shop has transitioned to an Agile shop, and our software testers have helped implement this process. Our functional testing team is able to participate in scrum meetings and work in collaboration with developers and designers in iterations to produce working software.
What security measures do you have in place at your facility?
DeRisk QA has certain safety measures in place to be compliant with HIPAA regulations: Security cameras are placed around our facility, access is restricted to our laboratory, and device and media controls have been implemented. PHI is granted only to authenticated testers with appropriate rights. Any ePHI that has to be printed is shredded and destroyed after its use.
